WOMEN WEIGHT-LIFTING? YUP!

Here we are again, to defeat another misconception. This is about women, who are afraid of weight-lifting. The stereotypical fear of bulking up like men has held women back from taking that extra step. Did you really think bulking-up will be THAT easy? Well, it isn’t! Secondly, women can’t become she-hulk that easily! On a contrasting note, strength training has its own sway...


IT’S MORE EFFECTVE AT LOSING MORE
The biggest advantage about lifting weights is the ability of your body to burn fats during and after working out. After heavy reps and sets of strength training, you continue to consume additional oxygen in the hours and even days that follow.




SHELL OUT MORE CALORIES WITH WEIGHTS
It is interesting to know how our body, with increased strength and lean muscle mass, uses calories more efficiently. Just the way sitting burns more calories than sleeping, standing burns more than sitting, walking burns more that standing, running more than walking, strength training burns bigger and better calories than just running!




HEALTHY HAPPY BONES!
Women while ageing most likely lose bone mass as well as muscle mass. Lifting weight, as studies show, reduces the chances of losing bone and muscle mass. This adds up with the decreasing risk factor of osteoporosis. The early you start doing weights, the better the chance of maintaining healthy, happy bones!




RELIEVING STRESS, PHEW!
Researches continue to follow that women who do strength training possess better management techniques to handle stress and face fewer adverse reactions to stressful situations. Of course! Exercising in general is a great way to manage stress, but strength training proves to be better again, try it to notice!

DELUSIONAL TRAINING

Hi readers, I hope you are coping up well with your fitness routines! So while you stick to your workout regime, try keeping in mind these which might lead you to a weight-loss plateau. Where no matter how hard you try! You just don’t reach your target goal.

EMPTY STOMACH, WRONG!

You must have read it a gazillion times that one must work-out early in the morning empty stomached, it will have better effects. But that is a myth, understand... If you don’t have the source of energy, how will you burn calories? Thought about it? So before you work out in the morning or evening, snack up on something light and healthy an hour before you start. This will indeed give you that energy to lose weight.

Another thing that gym trainers and instructors observe is that women who get obsessed about reaching their goal weight often stop drinking water amidst of working out. Keeping yourself hydrated is very important. When your level of energy is abstained from water, it runs out too soon leaving you with fatigue and weakness. Your body consists of 70% water; drink water to reduce water.

TOO MUCH OF TREAD MILL?

“Take 5 rounds of that huge park and you will be good” every other person would repeat it quite often. So we keep running on the tread mill continuing our beliefs in the clichés. One mistake majority of the women commit is to run, run and run on the tread mill at the same boring pace and then leave! That defeats the entire purpose of gym. The trick to losing weight is BALANCE! Run on the tread bill for 10 mins all together. Run for 2 mins at full speed and then slow down for your body to restore energy and then again sprint for the next 2 mins and repeat the same for 10 mins. See the difference yourself!

All women are scared of buffing up. So lifting weights becomes a big time NO-NO! But did you know by adding lean muscles it is easier to burn more calories, added, you even burn them when you are not working out. Moreover, women can’t bulk up that easily like the way men do. So be carefree and fearless to pick up those sets of dumbbells and do the high-powered weight-bearing reps of squat jumps, lunges and much more!

VICTORIA’S SECRET ANGELS


So here we are again talking about fitness, only this time we talk about a Bikini Dream Figure. Does that remind you of something? Victoria’s Secret Angels perhaps?! Let’s take a sneak peek at the hard work and drills that these beauties do to stay in perfect shape.

HYDRATION!
Keeping yourself hydrated is one of the major rules of losing weight. If your body is dehydrated, it is more difficult for your blood to circulate throughout the body. Keeping it to be another stress that can put a burden on weight loss. So! These Angels drink a lot of water...a lot of water!

EXERCISE! 
It is a part of the entire picture! Exercising represents 20% of the entire equation as per studies. It is a huge component of staying healthy as also becoming an Angel while achieving a dream body.

DIET! DIET! DIET!
Exercising or dieting alone, won’t do the needful. While we burn our calories with regular work outs, watching our calorie intake is also important. These two factors together consist of the major portion of the entire routine. To stay fit, we eat healthy, but to get that Angel figure, we need to eat with proper selection. We must imagine what these Angles have on their plates..

It is not a piece of cake to maintain that VICTORIA’S SECRET ANGEL reputation. All the Angels do a lot to maintain that washboard abs.  Whether it is kick-boxing or cardio, pilates or weight training! To enhance the effects of the weight-loss routine one must be engaged with some kind of fitness drills!

Be a Better Runner

You’ve got the fancy shoes, tracks and running apps on the phone, now what? Running is believed to be the best kind of cardio whether it is outside or on a treadmill. Although it is a strenuous activity, our goal is to advise you to not let it become stressful. 

> Slow Transition – The most important thing before you bring sprinting like a free spirit is to take the transition slowly. Try walking fast and running in intervals of 1 to 2 minutes each. This way you will build stamina for the long haul by not sending your body into a total surprise. 

> Track your running – Once you begin, keep at it consistently and track your progress. Either sign up for training or download an application that helps you achieve your running goals. 

> Proper posture – To avoid injuries while running make sure your posture is right i.e., relaxed shoulders, head stacked over the spine and relaxed facial muscles. To be able to run well you should softly land mid-foot not on the heels. When you gain momentum, running and landing should feel less and less of a strain. 

> Eat and drink right – Hydrate yourself well before you run so that you avoid cramps while running. As far as diet is concerned, opt for a small snack i.e., a mixture of carbohydrates, proteins and fats is ideal. Eat at least an hour or two before you run so you have plenty of time to digest your pre-workout meal.

> Switch up  - Your running routine needs to be varied or you will soon find it boring and want to stop. Make it interesting by running in the park, treadmill, uneven terrains (with care though), along the river (if there is an option), with a friend etc.

MAKE TIME FOR FITNESS..

Dear readers, for once more we are here to remind you.  Keeping fit is pretty easy! Time and again 
we all tend to get away with an excuse of time crunch whenever it comes to fitness. Guys! Let’s stop 
excusing ourselves to the accumulating fats and face the reality. We all love to eat and for a fact 
eating is more of a relaxation than a necessity.

  •  CHANGE YOUR CUP..

           Change you regular cup of tea or coffee to a cup of green tea. Green tea will definitely make 
           you lose weight, added to this it makes your body resistant to cancer cells. (source)




  •  HEALTHY SNACKING..

          While working on the desk you continuously want to munch on to something or the other. 
          Try and snack on healthy eatables like baked poha or pack yourself a fruit basket to munch 
          on. (source)



  •  GUMMING..

           Keep your mouth busy with a gum. When you continue chewing a gum although it is 
           psychological, but you tend to think less about snacking on some wafers or namkeen. (source)


           These can help you maintain your munchies, but what about losing that extra fat? 

  •  TAKE THE STAIRS

           When others opt for the lift, you must climb up the stairs. This strengthens your core and 
           your legs.

  •  STAND UP!

           While the website loads, stand up and go about the room. Sitting continuously while the 
           website buffers will add on to the lethargy for sure!

  •  BREATHE IN FRESH AIR

           Every couple of hours go for a walk outside, take a stroll or climb down stairs again climb 
           up. Be a little hyper-active throughout the day and shoo off the laziness!


One more reason that could possibly be the cause of weight-gain is insufficient sleep. Our body 
needs maintenance. 7 hours of sleep is the minimum that one can provide for energy restoration to 
resume the next day. No matter how stressful your day might be, shut out on your gadgets and lie 
down on your bed with your eyes closed. You are bound to fall asleep since you had a tired day.

You do need time to chill! Make the best out of your weekends and maintain throughout the 
weekdays!
